These terms apply when you use Roam Guru. It is beta software given to a small number of testers, and the terms say so plainly rather than pretending otherwise.
Agreement
By creating an account or using Roam Guru, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.
The app is in beta
Roam Guru is unfinished software under active development. It may contain defects, behave unexpectedly, change without notice, or become unavailable. Some screens show placeholder content that is clearly labelled in the app and listed on our home page.
Do not rely on it as your only record of anything that matters. Keep your own copy of plans you cannot afford to lose.
Not a safety service
Roam Guru helps you plan and keep track of preparation. It is not a safety, emergency, navigation, rescue, weather-forecasting or medical service, and must not be used as one. Weather, hazard and map content in the app is presently placeholder material and is not accurate information about real conditions.
You are responsible for your own judgement about whether a trip is safe, whether you are equipped for it, and for telling someone where you are going. Checking every box in a gear list does not mean you are ready.
Your account
- You must be 13 or older to create an account.
- Give accurate information, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.
- You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is permanent — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is removed and what happens to shared trips.
Your content
Your trips, lists, menus and notes remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the service: to store that content, and to show it to the people you share a trip with.
You are responsible for what you put in. Do not upload anything unlawful, abusive, or that you do not have the right to share. Be mindful that content on a shared trip is visible to everyone on it.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- Break the law, or use the app to harass or harm anyone.
- Attempt to access accounts, trips or data that are not yours, or probe the service for weaknesses without permission.
- Scrape, overload, or interfere with the service or the people using it.
- Reverse engineer the app except where the law says you may.
We may suspend or remove an account that does these things, or that puts other people using the service at risk.
Price and future paid features
Roam Guru is currently free. Paid features may be introduced later. If that happens, the core planning and readiness features people rely on stay free, safety-related features are never placed behind a paywall, and testers from the first beta keep free access to features available to them during the beta.
Nothing here obliges you to pay for anything. Any paid tier would require you to opt in and agree to its terms at the time.
Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, including the beta as a whole. Where reasonably possible we will give testers notice and an opportunity to export or record their plans.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roam Guru is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any content in it is accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roam Guru is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, in which case they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and material changes will be communicated to beta testers by email. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
